Abstract In this thesis, a microstrip bandpass filter (BPF) with the central frequency in 3400-3600 MHz band for 5G wireless communications in India is designed and fabricated. The filter under investigation is composed of a number of U-shaped resonators. The bandwidth of filter is 100 MHz and all resonators are synchronously tuned. The resonant frequency of the resonators, the coupling between them, as well as input and output coupling coefficients are computed by means of the coupling matrix method procedure The frequency response of the filter obtained and optimized through the use of Ansys HFSS software. Filter specifications are as follows: band center frequency 3.5 GHz, bandwidth 100 MHz, input and output impedance is 50. The obtained transfer characteristic corresponds to the Chebyshev filter response. However, further optimization is required as the minimum attenuation in the passband was not reached using the coupling matrix method only. The work contains 113 pages, 124 figures
