| Anotācija |
The Bachelor Paper has been written by Ilze Zvēra, a student of Riga Technical University, Institute of Applied Linguistics. The theme of the paper is Special Meaning Representation in Target Text (in the field of civil engineering). It is chosen by the author due to the term meaning that is an abstract term and awakes an interest in it. Moreover, this topic and also lexical units and terms from the practical part can be looked at from different perspectives.
The work consists of two parts where in the first or theoretic part the issues and theories concerning meaning and its creation from the academic perspective are discussed and compared but the second part or practical part comprises a translation from English into the Latvian language. Material for translation was taken from the book Green Roof Construction and Maintenance (2009) by Kelly Luckett. The book is devoted to the environmental issues and modern roof construction building methods that are good for resource as well as energy saving. The problems that occurred in the translating process are discussed and analysed in the theoretical part.
In terms of structure the present Paper comprises an introduction, the theoretical part, the practical part, the conclusion, bibliography, glossary and the source text. The bibliography comprises 21 book, 4 dictionaries and 5 online dictionaries. The appendixes include a glossary that is subdivided into 6 smaller glossaries covering rather narrow fields of terminology of the field of civil engineering and related sciences. The second appendix is a source text.
The total volume of the Bachelor Paper is 101 pages; the number of characters of the practical part in the target language is 135 083 |
