The thesis aims to evaluate and compare the dense wavelength-multiplexed passive optical network (DWDM-PON) and spectrum sliced wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (SS-WDM-PON). The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into four sections. The first section explains fiber types and fiber loss mechanisms. The second chapter is about the passive optical network and FTTX. The third chapter explains WDM-PON architecture and components. The fourth chapter all about SS-WDM-PON architecture. The fourth section is the comparison between DWDM-PON and SS-WDM-PON systems using OptSim simulation software. |
