Anotācija AUTOMATED GUIDED VEHICLE, TRANSIT TIME, ROUTE PLANNING, DISCRETE EVENT SIMULATION. Warehouse efficiency plays a key role in the success of an industry, the more efficient the warehouse is better is the output parameters. As of now we know that the warehouse is in a state of saturation which means that they have state of the art technologies to ensure that the operations are performed without any bottlenecks. But there are certain areas that can be improved to get better results such as low transportation time of goods inside the warehouse. This can be achieved by improved response time of drivers (both AGV and forklifts). This Master thesis deals with such kind of an issue. It is entirely based on simulation of discrete events in a warehouse. The warehouse is developed as a model in the software ARENA with main parameters as discrete events, which is then studied under two scenarios of Automate Guided Vehicle(AGV) and forklifts which are used for the transportation of goods inside the warehouse. The goal of this Master thesis is to determine which of the above technology has a better response time so that the transportation time of goods inside the warehouse is efficient. The results achieved after the simulation was performed states the main disadvantage of the AGV which is pre-programmed which has some effects on the overall process. But, nevertheless it has a great operating potential inside the warehouse. The Master thesis contains 64 pages, 50 bibliographies, and 18 images.
