| Abstract |
The title of the present Diploma Paper is “Translation Theory and Translator’s Competence”. The author of the Diploma Paper is Kritina Ņikitina. The source text was taken from the book ““DRIVE. The Surprising Truth about What Motivates Us„ by Daniel H.Pink, Published by the Penguin Group, 2009.
The aim of the Diploma Paper is to describe the main aspects of the theory of translation that can be used for translation of informative texts. The Diploma Paper contains theoretical feedback as well as practical information on how to use certain methods of translation, described in the Diploma Paper.
The paper is divided into two parts: Theoretical Part as well as Practical Part.
The Theoretical Part includes the material about general aspects of the theory of translation, describes the approaches which help translator to improve his creative work. Teoretical part describes how to apply mentioned aspects to practice, focusing on translations of informative texts.
The Practical Part is translation from the source language to target language, which is required in order to perform the study of the topic. The chosen text is informative and is in the field of economics. Source language is English, target language is Russian.
From the structural perspective the present Diploma Paper comprises the introduction, analytical part, practical part (the translation of a text in economics from English into Russian and Glossary) and 1 appendix – the source text.
The Paper comprises 124 pp and contains 43 reference sources. The total number of words in the Target Text is 32 317. |
