Abstract This bachelor’s thesis explores the possibilities of the sustainable development in Sri Lanka by considering different scope of topics that regulates the functioning of the country among its social, economic, environmental and cultural aspects. This thesis is introduced with the theoretical framework, which contains information’s such as sustainable development goals and indicators and sustainable development indexes. The theoretical data also includes the concept of sustainability i.e. Four Pillars of Sustainability and sustainable development. To further support this notion, analytical comparison is done for the subjected country Sri Lanka along with two of its neighboring countries, India, and Bangladesh. This thesis utilizes current data and historical data, which has the state of countries economy for the validation of the study, and the potential growth of sustainability in Sri Lanka. The results provided via analysis shows different challenges that persist and opportunities that needs to persevere to achieve sustainability.
