Abstract |
Photoelectron spectrometer (PES) is the instrument that is used to measure the electron
emission current from the surface of the material [1]. The measurements take place in
vacuum chamber. The specimen under study is set in place by a table, the size of the table
and the chamber often determine the size of the sample.
The design of specimen table assembly of the custom design PES, placed at BINI lab,
enables use of the specimens of maximal diameter 25mm and thickness 12 mm. The table
assembly is based on the HeatWaveLab UHV button heater (model 101491 heat shield
assembly), enabling heating of the specimen up to 1200°C, that is excessive for the
routine operation of PES (heating up to 700°C is used). The specimen height position is
adjusted for the different thickness of the specimen by manual shifting of the specimen
table inside the support, that makes height adjustment time – consuming and inaccurate.
To control the temperature of the sample, a thermocouple is attached to the surface of
the table, that impedes accurate measurement of temperature at the sample’s surface,
especially for thick dielectric samples. |
