Abstract The master’s thesis Traditional Media in the Digital Age: A Case Study of the Adaption of Digital Rhetoric by the Mainstream Latvian Media Outlets explores how select Latvian traditional media – print, television and radio – outlets have adapted to the requirements of digital rhetoric and digital environments. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the research and development of the theoretical framework of digital rhetoric from contemporary rhetoric and computer science theories. The author also studies the current state of Latvian traditional media landscape, determining the main study objects for the subsequent case study. It is followed by a set of surveys conducted with Latvian media consumers to obtain public opinions regarding digital rhetoric of the selected study objects. The paper also includes an extensive qualitative analysis by the author where the established theoretical framework is employed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the study objects. The last part of the paper is concerned with creating a website design in the prototyping tool Figma by employing the results of aforementioned surveys and analyses. At the end of the thesis, the author concludes that the successful adaption of digital rhetoric is dependent on other factors besides the traditional media formats.
