Abstract ABSTRACT The present Bachelor Paper has been developed by the 4th year student of the Riga Technical University, Institute of Languages - Ilze Amola. The Bachelor Paper is devoted to the topical issue Text Types and Translation Strategies (in the field of economics). The theme is chosen due to the fact that it covers challenges a translator has to face constantly in his or her occupational life. Only being aware of the theoretical aspects of translation it is possible to achieve a professional result. The theoretical part deals with the description and analysis of different text types and translation strategies. The practical part consists of a translation from English into Latvian of a text in economics from a textbook by Moilanen Teemu and Rainisto Seppo (2009) How to Brand Nations, Cities and Destinations. A Planning Book for Place Branding. The source text embraces issues about the importance of the nation brand, its implementation and gives examples of the experience of several countries brands. To draw the general conclusion, the author of the Bachelor Paper has summed it up that each text type requires different translation strategies. In terms of structure the present Paper comprises an abstract, an introduction, the theoretical part, the practical part, the conclusion, bibliography, glossary and the source text. The bibliography comprises 22 books, 7 dictionaries and 6 online dictionaries. The appendixes include a glossary of specialized terms of the field of economics and a glossary of context dependent lexical items in the alphabetic order, along with their dictionary and contextual meaning. There is also the source text of the practical part in the appendix. The total volume of the Bachelor Paper is 110 pages; the number of characters of the target text is 20,940.
