Abstract The master thesis examines the warehousing business, and the concept of automation in the warehouses and its effect on the operational efficiency. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis of traditional and automated warehouses are presented. Technologies used to switch from traditional warehouse to automated warehouse are displayed. The practical part includes simulation performed by using ARENA simulation software where both type of warehouses are applied. The simulation results are collected and analyzed at the end of the practical section. The conclusion explains which type is better, according to varied internal and external factors affecting operational efficiency, competitive advantages, and sustainability. The master thesis contains 67 pages, 28 figures, 6 tables, 53 reference sources, and 4 appendices.
