Abstract With the world grappling amid the pandemic and forcing countries across the world to impose a strict lockdowns, it has been becoming increasingly difficult for the businesses to carry out basic operational activities. And coming from a country which is densely populated and has been severely hit by the pandemic, the relevance of the topic becomes more important as warehouse management plays a pivotal intermediary role in managing the crucial link in managing supply chain of goods ranging from daily food items to emergency use medicines. And with the governments imposing lockdowns, applying AI technologies is seen as the only temporary option that can play a key role in mitigating the losses and further support supply chain resilience. The subject of this thesis is a mid-size warehouse management company in Ahmedabad, India and the main purpose of the study was to evaluate the role of artificial intelligence in the warehouse management by carrying out brief and detailed case studies and further identify the challenges and opportunities. The research was carried out by completing a qualitative analysis which included interviews with key personnel’s, detailed brainstorming sessions with the senior management and a specialized questionnaire for the staff of the company. The research discusses the challenges, opportunities in the application of AI in warehouse management, case study analysis of pros and cons of the AI technologies as well as SWOT analysis on the said topic. The author hopes that the thesis comprising of 78 pages, 22 figures, 5 tables, 37 references and 1 appendixes will serve the purpose and the results will help the case company and other companies to making valuable decisions in application of artificial intelligence for warehouse management.
