| Abstract |
The author of the Bachelor Paper Translation of Terminology in the Field of Civil Engineering is Inta Akentjeva, the 4th year student of the Institute of Languages, Riga Technical University.
In the theoretical part the author examines the notion of text types, studies the concept of terminology, provides classification of terms and discusses different ways how to find an appropriate translation of terms from the source text into the target language. The methods and techniques for terminology translation are explained and examined in detail.
The practical part provides the translation of the source text Seismic Analysis of Structures by T.K.Datta (2010). It demonstrates how the ideas and issues outlined in the theoretical part are implemented during the translation process by providing a literate and successful translation from the source language (English) into the target language (Latvian).
The Bachelor Paper consists of the introduction, theoretical part, practical part, conclusion, bibliography and four appendices comprising glossaries of the most specific field-related terms, contextual terms, and abbreviations, as well as the source text in English. The Bachelor Paper comprises 101 pages. The bibliography comprises 18 books, 11 dictionaries, and 15 online resources. |
