Abstract Abstract This Bachelor Paper titled „Contrastive Analysis of Terminology in the Sphere of Telecommunications” is written by Karina Sidoruka, the student of the 4th year of RTU Institute of Languages, Technical Translation Study Programme. The Paper consists of two main parts: the Theoretical Part and the Practical Part as well as glossary and bibliography. The Theoretical Part studies such aspects as terminology development, terminology translation and terminology standardization. Term formation patterns in English, Russian and Latvian are discussed and compared in this part. In the process of researching such term formation patterns as compounding, affixation, conversion, abbreviation, clipping and borrowing, similarities and differences have been found among the languages under consideration. The Practical Part represents translation of the extract from the book “Telecommunications Essentials, Second Edition: The Complete Global Source” by Lillian Goleniewski, Kitty Wilson Jarrett. The Bachelor Paper comprises 111 pages in total. The Theoretical Part consists of 31 pages. The Practical Part consists of 62 pages. Glossary of terms comprises 69 items, glossary of the general language words with contextual meanings comprises 18 items and glossary of abbreviation contains 39 items. Bibliography consists of 46 items.
