Abstract This thesis deals with the use of hybrid modulation in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) power factor correctors (PFC) to reduce conducted electromagnetic Interferences (EMI). The effect of simultaneous switching frequency and duty ratio modulation on the total harmonic distortion (THD) of PFC input current, power factor, peak switch current, conducted EMI reduction, efficiency is studied in detail in the thesis. The DCM PFC is studied by using simulations and analytical derivations. The performance of the DCM PFC with the hybrid modulation is compared to that with classical switching frequency modulation. Some advice on the choice of the type of modulation is also given. The thesis is written in English and consists of 80 pages, 58 figures, 8 tables, 91 references.
