Abstract The author of the present Bachelor Paper is the 4th year student of Riga Technical University, the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Līga Alksnīte. The theme of the Bachelor Paper is “Text Types and Translation Strategies”. The Bachelor Paper consists of the Introduction, the Theoretical Part, the Practical Part, Conclusion, Bibliography and two Appendices, i.e., the glossary of terms and the source text. In the Theoretical Part the author examines the classifications of text types, analyses the source text chosen for the Practical Part and determines the main characteristics of informative texts. The author also provides an overview of translation strategies proposed by scholars in Translation Studies. The Practical Part is the translation of the text taken from a book “Cloud Computing Concepts, Technology & Architecture” by Thomas Erl, Zaigham Mahmood and Richard Puttini. The source text is an informative text and it provides information about cloud security, cloud computing mechanisms, as well as cloud-enabling technologies. The whole Bachelor Paper consists of 99 pages. The Theoretical Part comprises 30 pages; the Practical Part – 60 pages. The bibliography comprises 28 books, 1 online source, 6 online dictionaries and encyclopedias.
