Abstract The goal of this master thesis is to investigate the background of urban freight transportation, analyse processes and methods that are mostly used in urban freight transportation, and build the model for single-region urban freight transportation model. Firstly, developing of urban freight model analysis of freight transportation system will be made with factors affecting them. Generally, these factors are economic factors and mostly problems that urban cities are facing. The obvious way of finding these factors is analysing what kind of problems facing the world. For this purpose, in master thesis the European urban freight transportation models will be analysed, with more attention to regional IO models. Secondly, the general approach to freight transport modelling process will be introduced. Each step will be introduced with the mathematical formulation. Since in this master thesis, the only mathematical structure of models with its main components and elements will be analysed. After all, a process introduced, traditional travel forecasting process will be reviewed, with detailed steps description. Finally, single region IO model will be used in real case application. From this application, we can observe advantages and disadvantages of this model. The master thesis contains 92 pages, 5 figures, 49 tables, 43 reference sources, and 1 appendix.
