Abstract In order to develop and deliver a software project successfully any software development firm have to follow a well-known and recognised software engineering process for successful delivery and maintenance of the software but when the organisation wanted to follow a new software development process then the success rate of adopting the new software engineering process is a question mark. In this thesis work we are going to study and compare two software engineering processes which base is of different paradigms or model. They are Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) as a representative for Iterative methodology and Scrum for agile software development. This comparative analysis will help the software development firm for easier transition from Microsoft solutions framework to Scrum or vice versa. Microsoft solutions framework is a disciplined software development approach with proven and best practices adaptable guidelines and process and it follows iterative methodology and in the other hand Scrum is an iterative and incremental form of agile software development and it focuses on providing value to customer in short period of time. So the goal of the thesis is to explain the Microsoft Solutions Framework and Scrum to identify the similarities and differences between the two software engineering processes and finally based on the study to propose a hybrid software engineering process for agile software development.
